Pope Francis had such a heart for people on the “peripheries”, which would include everyone that’s mentioned in Chapter 25 of Matthew’s gospel: those in prison, the sick, the homeless, the jobless, and others. He also had a wonderful heart for the Deaf. He posted a greeting in Sign Language, asking us to pray for him. There are numerous photos of people involved in Deaf ministry meeting him at different pilgrimages in Rome. He will be greatly missed, but we now have a great friend in heaven! We commend his soul to the God whom he so loved and served.
Starting with the date of his funeral, April 26, through May 4, is nine days of prayer and mourning. The United States Conference of Catholic bishops has published a novena in his memory to be prayed during these days. I encourage you to pray each day as you are able.
